Bankole Wellington, better known by his stage name Banky W, has clarified the situation regarding signing Whitemoney, the winner of Big Brother Naija season 6, to Empire Mates Entertainment.

Whitemoney made headlines on September 20, 2022, when he posted images of Banky on Instagram and said that it was time for him to release quality music.

Many people thought the singer and Shine Ya Eye edition winner had a record deal with the company.

However, Banky W denied the report in a recent interview on Hot FM Lagos, making it clear that he did not sign the reality TV star.

According to Banky W, EME changed from being a record label to becoming a media and marketing agency in 2017.

Banky added that he only helped Whitemoney to get an ambassadorial deal with a company it consults for.

He reiterated that it was strictly an influencer deal for one of the corporate brands that EME works with.

He said: “We transitioned from a record label to Media & Marketing Agency. I didn’t sign Whitemoney, we helped him with an influencer deal with one of the corporate clients that we service, so he is an ambassador for a company. So, we helped him to a marketing situation. We didn’t sign him”.

Whitemoney, released his debut single titled ‘Selense’, earlier in March.

Following the criticism over the new single, the reality star vowed to become a Grammy-winning artiste before 2023.

“Music is food to my system, for those who don’t believe I don’t blame you, I am trying to make more friends and less enemies, I promise one day I go win the Grammys”, he said.
