Nollywood actress Chita Agwu has officially confirmed the end of her 11-year marriage to Johnson Maduabuchi. The couple, who exchanged traditional vows on October 25, 2014, and held their white wedding in June 2015, are now legally divorced following a court decision.

In a carefully worded personal statement released online, Chita shared the news with quiet dignity and a clear request for privacy. She wrote:

“After much thought and a journey that has been deeply personal, I wish to officially inform the public that my marriage has been legally dissolved by the court. This chapter of my life has come to an end, and I have chosen to embrace this new beginning with peace, grace, and dignity.”

The actress stressed that marriage is a private journey that does not always unfold as hoped. She made it clear she will not discuss the reasons behind the split or engage in public debates.

“Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be sharing private details or engaging in public discussions about the circumstances surrounding my divorce. I kindly ask that my privacy and that of my former partner be respected,” she stated.

Chita expressed gratitude to those who have supported her and outlined the mindset she is carrying into her next chapter.

“As I begin this new chapter, I choose peace over controversy, healing over bitterness, and growth over public explanations. My marriage has ended, but my life continues. I move forward with my head held high, my dignity intact, and my heart open to the future,” she concluded.

The announcement, published on October 20, 2026, marks a significant personal milestone for the actress and producer known for roles in films such as The Bet and Perfect Wife.

Fans and colleagues have begun reacting with messages of support as the news spreads.
