Big Brother Naija star Bella Okagbue has, through her lawyers, accused her ex, Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo, of attempted murder, torture and a broken promise to marry her, and is demanding N2.5 billion.
A letter dated August 2026, now circulating online says Bella suffered “well documented” verbal assault plus emotional, physical and mental torture, including alleged attempted murder by asphyxiation. Her lawyers gave Sheggz three days to meet their demands or face court, with a further claim of N5 billion in exemplary and aggravated damages if he refuses.
The letter alleges that in October 2023 Sheggz assaulted Bella, locked her in his house and would not let her leave. Lawyers cited a message she sent his mother at the time:
“Mum, please, call Sheggz to let me go home. I want to go home. I’ve been disrespected enough.”
They also pointed to conversations from November 2025 in which Bella allegedly expressed fear over threats to her life and repeated strangulation.
Money sits at the centre of the fight as well. The letter quoted a February 2024 message from Bella:
“you are hanging up on me ontop my own money again.”
Sheggz is said to have replied:
“I’ll pay you as soon as I have the money honestly and thank you for helping me out when I was tight.”
Her team is demanding N19.826 million and £10,237, plus N500 million for alleged breach of promise to marry and N2 billion for physical, emotional and psychological trauma. They also want defamatory posts retracted, her pictures taken off his social media, and a public apology.
On marriage, lawyers said Sheggz repeatedly promised to wed her. In a May 2024 message cited in the letter, he wrote:
“Then marriage. See my wife the whole world will be on fire.”
The move follows weeks of public legal sparring after their four-year relationship ended in January 2026. In August, Sheggz’s lawyers issued a cease-and-desist and defamation notice over Bella’s claims that he owed her money and abused her. Bella’s team called those defamation claims “spurious and baseless” and accused him of taking loans by false pretence.
Sheggz’s lawyers have produced financial records and said he was the principal provider, while accepting that Bella had her own income. They said he once believed the relationship would lead to marriage, but persistent disagreements and intervention by Bella’s sister and mother made him pull back. He has also said an audit of his UK account showed he spent £220,000 of his own money on her.
