Nigerian comedian and actor Awesome Chidiebere, popularly known as Deacon Famous, has stirred fresh debate with a hard-hitting warning that polygamy is the fastest way to a man’s grave, while insisting that no second wife or side chick can ever love her partner genuinely.
In a recent video that went viral, the content creator and actor argued that genuine love is impossible once a woman knows a man is already taken.
“There is no second wife or side chick who loves her man genuinely. It’s not possible,” he said.
Chidiebere explained that women naturally resist sharing a partner. When a man admits he is married or already has a girlfriend, the woman’s interest often shifts.
“When a woman asks a man if he has a girlfriend or is married and he says yes, she starts withdrawing from the relationship because women naturally don’t want to share. As they withdraw, their feelings for you also recedes. If she was planning to give you her whole heart genuinely, it switches to staying to get something you have that she needs like money or power. She can only stay to use you after finding out you’re already taken by another woman.”
He insisted that only a first wife stands a real chance of offering true love, though even that is not always guaranteed.
“Only your first wife can love you truly and sometimes she might also just be pretending. The fact that there’s a first wife automatically prevents other women from loving you truly.”
The actor, who is married, warned that polygamy rarely brings peace. He claimed many men who take additional wives later return to their first partners for emotional comfort.
“This is why most men who practice polygamous regret it. They can move into a house with the second wife, but they’ll go back to their first wife for a week whenever they want to feel loved. That first wife becomes medication for clearing his head because the second wife knows you don’t love her genuinely too. She knows your heart still belongs to your first wife.”
Chidiebere described the arrival of a second wife as the start of inevitable conflict.
“The second wife coming into your life comes prepared for war because she knows there’s another woman. The unprepared person is the first wife. You that wants to bring in another woman will not escape the war. Polygamy doesn’t give anyone peace of mind. Don’t deceive yourself. If you get into polygamy, it’s the fastest way to your grave.”
He tied the desire for multiple partners to greed and lack of discipline, especially among men who have not yet achieved much in life.
The remarks have drawn mixed responses online, with some praising the “hard truth” while others insist genuine love can still exist in complicated relationships.
