Gospel singer Abbey Ojomu has captured hearts online after sharing the unusual and deeply spiritual journey she and her husband endured before tying the knot, including a five-month no-communication rule imposed by their spiritual leaders.
Speaking at a church event, the newly married artiste opened up about how their union was built on divine conviction rather than fleeting emotions.
“I just want to bless God. He set everything, and we didn’t get here because of feelings or emotions. It was very, very intentional,” she declared.
After deciding to pursue marriage, the couple submitted their relationship to their spiritual fathers, who issued a surprising directive.
“They told us to take like five months off speaking to each other. No phone calls, no texts, nothing, nothing, because they wanted to make sure that it wasn’t because we were close,” Abbey recalled.
The separation proved challenging, leading the couple to use an intermediary to check on each other.
“I remember we used to send this girl messages. I will say, ‘How is he doing?’” she shared, sparking laughter from the audience.
The pair refused to proceed until their spiritual authorities gave full approval. Abbey also recounted a memorable trip to Jos where Pastor Emmanuel quickly affirmed their readiness after hearing her convictions.
Her testimony has sparked widespread reactions, with many praising the couple’s discipline while others expressed surprise at such strict guidelines in modern courtship.
Abbey concluded with profound gratitude:
“We just want to thank God for the journey, we were helped by God.”
