Sophia Momodu has fired a massive legal salvo at actress Caroline Hutchings, demanding a staggering N10 billion in damages over a controversial Snapchat post that many interpreted as a direct attack on her character and personal life.
The businesswoman and mother of Davido’s first child, Imade, issued a strongly worded pre-action notice through her lawyers at Ahonaruogho, Ahonaruogho & Co on July 14, 2026, giving the actress 48 hours to retract, apologise publicly, and pay compensation or face court.
The drama erupted from a July 3 Snapchat post by Hutchings (popularly known as Caroline Danjuma) accusing an unnamed woman of sleeping with her ex-partner while they were still together. The post read in part:
“Funny how I pretend I am stupid but I know the girl I defended on national TV was sleeping with my man while I was with him… You are dirt; you sleep with your friend’s man.”
Although no names were mentioned, netizens quickly linked the tirade to Momodu, sparking widespread speculation, cyberbullying, and public ridicule against her.
Sophia’s legal team claimed the post was later republished across blogs and social media, causing severe damage to her reputation and emotional well-being. They revealed that Momodu privately reached out to Hutchings on the same day asking for clarification, but received no response.
The letter accused Hutchings of deliberate silence that reinforced the false narrative. It demands: an unequivocal retraction and unreserved public apology on all her platforms; publication of the apology in two national newspapers; substantial monetary compensation; and a written undertaking to stop further defamatory publications.
Failure to comply, the notice warned, will lead to court action seeking a declaration that the publication was false and defamatory, N10 billion in general and aggravated damages, a perpetual injunction, and N50 million in legal fees.
The lawyers, however, left room for amicable settlement, inviting discussions before litigation.
This latest feud adds fresh fuel to ongoing public scrutiny of Momodu’s personal life, coming amid her high-profile co-parenting battles with Davido.
