Street-pop star Portable and Nollywood actor Charles Okocha are set to settle their bitter unfinished business in a highly anticipated celebrity boxing rematch on July 31, 2026, after their press conference for Chaos in the Ring 4 erupted into chaos.
The duo first squared off in December 2023 at Landmark Beach, Lagos, where Portable emerged victorious by unanimous decision, claiming the celebrity boxing belt after both fighters declined to continue into the fifth round. Portable, however, suffered a setback in May 2026 when he lost his title to Carter Efe via unanimous decision. The July 31 rematch now presents Portable with a golden opportunity to reclaim glory and silence his critics against his long-time rival.
Tensions reached boiling point on Tuesday at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, during the official press conference. Portable wasted no time issuing a chilling threat:
“You that I have beaten before, I will break your bones. Fight is coming.”
Charles Okocha fired back with equal ferocity:
“Let me tell you something, I will kill you in the ring. I am fearless. We will see who the man is on the 31st of July. Everyone knows the first one was not a real fight, but this time it is the real deal. And he will not survive two rounds if he finds a way to escape me in the first round.”
The verbal war quickly turned physical. A thrown soda sparked a wild brawl involving punches and flying chairs, forcing security personnel to intervene and separate the warring parties after several tense minutes.
Balmoral Group Promotions CEO, Ezekiel Adamu, confirmed the rematch was always on the cards.
“They fought before. Charles wants a rematch. He activated a rematch clause. So, we expected that, and we will make it happen.”
Okocha is brimming with confidence, insisting this time around will be different and that Portable stands no chance of lasting long. Portable, riding high on his reputation as a fearless fighter, appears determined to deliver a dominant performance and prove his supremacy once and for all.
The explosive main event will headline Chaos in the Ring 4 at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos and is expected to stream live on DAZN, promising non-stop action and drama.
The undercard will feature several other high-stakes bouts, including Mr Real taking on Idowest, Taiwo ‘Esehpo’ Agbaje versus South African Ayabonga Sonjika, and WBO Africa cruiserweight champion Godday Appah defending his title against Lekan ‘The Engine’ Muibi.
With bad blood running deep and both fighters vowing total destruction, the July 31 showdown is primed to deliver one of the most explosive chapters yet in Nigerian celebrity boxing history. Who will emerge victorious when the gloves come off? The nation waits with bated breath.
