Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has set the internet on fire with no-holds-barred Instagram posts targeting her estranged husband, actor Frederick Leonard, as their divorce battle turns messier and increasingly public.
In a series of strongly worded messages, the actress accused Leonard of avoiding court proceedings while allegedly being involved in an affair with a married woman and mother of four children. She warned him not to dodge the next court date. Peggy wrote:
“You said you wanted a divorce, yet you didn’t show up when you were served, please don’t avoid customary court for the 2nd time on June 23rd because I’m coming with receipts & let’s make this Divorce done & dusted. So both of you can finally be together.”
She further claimed Leonard ran to a blogger to deny her allegations but allegedly avoided court after seeing the details of her petition.
“So called traditional Igbo man with another Igbo man’s wife with 4 children, you ran to a blogger that I was lying but when you were served & saw details of my petition, you knew I had seen one out of many, yet refused to show up in court but sent your lawyer.”
Peggy then referenced an hypothetical scenario post she made in February that many interpreted as her personal story. There, Peggy painted a painful picture of betrayal, manipulation, and double standards.
“What will you do if you find out that the man you are dating is sleeping with a married woman with kids?… Your husband always hypes the married woman in public but privately your husband tells you how local this his ‘friend’ is just to manipulate you so you will not suspect a thing. But one day you got evidence that your husband was sleeping with thie married woman… Yet this same man judges and castigates single girls who sleep with married men.”
She alleged secret meetings in apartments and hotels, and claimed the married woman even attended their wedding, believing the pair were “just friends.” Peggy said she now possesses evidence of the alleged affair, including messages where her husband expressed missing the other woman while still married to her.
The dramatic posts have triggered massive reactions online, with fans mainly divided between supporting Peggy’s fight for a separation and those urging the couple to handle their private matters away from social media.
This latest outburst comes amid ongoing reports of the couple’s separation, with their marriage appearing to have hit the rocks after what many once viewed as a beautiful union in the Nollywood industry.
