Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker Hilda Dokubo has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu over the escalating insecurity crisis ravaging Nigeria, particularly the rising wave of kidnappings that has left many families in constant fear.
In a passionate and viral video, the actress expressed deep frustration at what she described as the president’s disconnect from the daily suffering of ordinary citizens. She contrasted the heavy security surrounding the president with the vulnerability of everyday Nigerians.
“You live a great life; you drive in armoured vehicles escorted on both sides by armed security men. Your office has an armoured door and long security queues before you can be seen. You live a lavish life, you drive bulletproof cars escorted by armoured vehicles, escorts run after you with sirens, so you don’t really feel our pain.”
Dokubo lamented the lack of empathy and urgent action, especially for farmers and communities losing lives and livelihoods to bandits and kidnappers.
“The farmers who lose their farmlands daily do not need your distance. They need empathy, they need action, they need you to protect their land.”
The actress made an emotional appeal referencing a widely circulated image of a kidnapped child:
“Did you see that child tied up with a stone tied to his back, his legs and his hands tied together? How can that not move you, Mr President?”
She ended with a heartfelt prayer for parents:
“May no parent go through this fear, this fear of knowing they may be the ones to bury their children or not even seeing the corpse of their children.”
Her outburst comes amid fresh abductions in Oyo State and growing public anger over repeated attacks on schools and communities. It adds her powerful voice to other celebrities who have recently spoken out against the government’s handling of the security situation.
