Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, has opened up in an emotional interview about the deep rift between her and her late husband’s family, revealing that their once-close relationship broke down following Liam’s birth, over disagreements about the naming ceremony and other internal family matters.

In a recent Channels TV interview, Wunmi disclosed that she and Mohbad’s father used to be best of friends until issues arose after Liam’s birth.

“We used to be best of friends till I had Liam. There was a couple of issues with the naming ceremony and some internal family issues that became a big issue.”

Wunmi clarified that contrary to public perception, the feud is not primarily about Mohbad’s death but escalated family matters.

“A lot of people online feel it’s all about Mohbad’s death but in reality, it’s because of the family feud that we had.”

She recounted reaching out when tensions began:

“When everything started, I was scared. I called him to ask what I did wrong but he wasn’t saying anything I wanted to hear — he was just talking about Mohbad’s property.”

Wunmi expressed deep pain over the situation, noting the other party’s demand for a DNA test with a shocking condition.

“He’s asking for something I can’t give — he wants the DNA of my child to be negative.”

She also addressed the royalties issue:

“He wants to be in possession of my husband’s royalties which I’m not even against because according to culture, he’s a father figure so I expected him to do it the right way. At first, I wondered if I could take all of that but as a woman, I feel like people think they can cheat me just because of that.”

The actress and mother stated that reconciliation now seems impossible.

“At this point, I just don’t think that the family feud can be settled anymore.”

The revelation has reignited massive public interest in the long-running saga surrounding Mohbad’s family, with many sympathising with Wunmi’s position as a young widow protecting her child and her late husband’s legacy.
