God Called Me, But I Ran — Tonto Dikeh Says

Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has opened up about a little-known chapter of her life, revealing that she once planned to become a pastor before choosing a different path.

The movie star made the emotional revelation during a recent livestream interview, where she spoke about her faith, struggles, and what she describes as a lifelong divine calling.

According to Tonto, her spiritual journey started early in life, long before fame and controversy.

“I’ve always had this calling right from when I was a child. At 19 I was going to be a pastor, until I ran away.”

She explained that even after stepping away from the idea of ministry, her relationship with God remained strong.

“I’ve been in church since I left secondary school. So I had always known God intimately and intensely. And I’ve always known I had this calling.”

Tonto also reflected on the many ups and downs that have defined her public life, saying she now sees them as part of a bigger plan.

“If you watch what has happened in my life, it is not ordinary. God called me and needed me to go through all I had to become the firebrand that I am today.”

The actress described her life journey as divinely orchestrated, noting that every challenge helped shape her strength and bold personality.
