Nollywood actress and producer Toyin Abraham is facing intense backlash after a private phone conversation with a TikTok fan leaked online and quickly spread across social media. The roughly 11-minute recording captures Abraham speaking with a fan known as Bisgold and has reignited her long-running tension with fellow star Funke Akindele while also exposing deeply personal details about a devastating pregnancy loss.
In the audio, largely conducted in Yoruba and Pidgin, Bisgold repeatedly directed strong insults at Funke Akindele. Abraham can be heard laughing at points and continuing the conversation without once cautioning or stopping the fan. The same call also touched on past comments Bisgold made about Iyabo Ojo, with Abraham acknowledging she herself had not fully moved past those remarks. Critics online have accused Abraham of enabling the insults by remaining silent, arguing that a public figure of her stature should have shut the conversation down.
Abraham used parts of the call to vent about the constant criticism she faces, including fake fan pages that troll actress Kemity, whom she described as being like a daughter to her, and her working relationship with Itele. She stressed that she remains on good terms with both and is even collaborating with Kemity’s goddaughter, something that would be impossible if there were real bad blood. She also advised Bisgold against bullying others, noting that she herself has been on the receiving end of harsh online attacks over her movie promotions.
The most emotional portion of the conversation came when Abraham opened up about her IVF journey. She revealed that she had hoped to carry and deliver her babies in Canada but was told she would need close monitoring and would have to give birth in Nigeria because she was carrying triplets. She expressed deep disappointment that people mocked her during a thanksgiving service for rolling on the floor in worship, saying the bullying contributed to her losing the pregnancy. Despite the pain, she noted that one positive was being able to film certain movie scenes while her pregnancy was visibly noticeable.
According to accounts circulating with the leak, Bisgold was already on a call with a trusted friend when Abraham rang. She claimed she asked the friend to mute while she spoke, only to later discover the conversation had been recorded. The friend allegedly messaged Abraham on WhatsApp demanding money and threatening to release the audio if she refused. Abraham declined to pay, and the recording was subsequently shared widely. Bisgold has since been apologising online, while Abraham has not issued a public statement at the time of reporting.
The leak has poured fresh fuel on the well-documented friction between Abraham and Akindele. Earlier this year, a video from the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s film showed Akindele appearing to ignore Abraham’s greeting while seated with other colleagues, an incident that left Abraham visibly embarrassed. Abraham later confirmed she had unfollowed Akindele and vowed she would never greet her again. The new audio has divided fans once more, with some defending Abraham for not actively joining the insults and others insisting her silence and laughter were enough to worsen the situation.
