Singer Portable and Nollywood actress Ashabi Simple have dragged their child support war back into public view, this time with a DNA ultimatum, a threat of court and a voice note that refuses to stay private.
On Friday, September 18, 2026, clips circulated of Portable telling Ashabi he will not keep feeding the children they share until paternity is proven in a hospital. Ashabi answered by calling him a finished man who would rather hand the kids to another woman than send money.
In the leaked recording, Portable set a one-week deadline.
“All the children you gave birth to, we’re going to do DNA test on them. Write everything needed for me so we can meet at the hospital in time. In a week. If you want me to keep feeding and supporting them, we’ll have to get DNA tests done.”
He went further and questioned the life they lived under the same roof.
“Even when you were with me, you didn’t stay in my house for up to 7 days. Always going somewhere with your drunken self. When you’re so wasted, how will guys not take advantage of you?”
Then came the line that set timelines on fire.
“Don’t think that just because the children resemble me and I sleep by your side means I won’t have the tests done. Do I know if they’re bastards?”
That demand followed Ashabi’s threat to sue him for allegedly abandoning her and the children. Portable has rejected the idea of a polite co-parenting truce. In a separate voice note, he told her, “You are my enemy for life,” and accused her of using the children as leverage after she asked for food money.
“She said she is going to sue me because I did not drop food money. Give me my children; another woman will take care of them.”
He insisted that if the children lived with him, school fees, clothes and birthdays would not be a debate.
Ashabi posted her reply in the same blistering register. She quoted him as saying he could not send child support and wanted another woman to raise the kids, then dismissed the swagger.
“Strongman online. We don’t really care about you here. But that you will not be responsible is a lie. I am just not ready with you.”
She said she had already shown respect to his people by messaging him.
This is not a new fight. It is the latest chapter of a breakup that has been playing out in public for months. In June, Ashabi said Portable sent N200,000 after six months, and only after her mother intervened, and that a visit he requested ended with N18,000 for the children.
