Nollywood actor Ebisan Arayi has explained how a simple self-tape opened the door to one of his most intense roles, playing the armed overseer of a secret baby-farming operation in the 2025 series Baby Farm.
On the Conversations With Kenni podcast hosted by Kehinde Ajose, the actor described the unusually straightforward way he booked the part.
“I just sent a quick video to somebody who knew about the production and then the producer saw the video and said I was good. Over time, the producer has become more like a family to me as well,” Arayi said.
He then broke down the character he played.
“In Baby Farm, I was the controller. I was the guy who had his eyes on the baby farm facility. It was a movie about two foreign doctors who were claiming to be doing IVF for people, helping them to get babies, but they were really just farming babies. They’d take the babies from the mothers and sell the babies off. Get young girls pregnant, sell the babies off and all that.”
Arayi’s job on screen was to keep the operation running and stop anyone from walking free.
“So I was the eye of the facility overseeing the operation. I was the guy on the green suit who was always moving around and making sure there were no escapes from the facility and anyone who tried to escape get to meet my gun.”
The series, which follows pregnant women lured into a sinister scheme disguised as medical help, has drawn attention for tackling baby factories, a real social problem in parts of Nigeria. Arayi’s Controller appears across the five-episode run as the man who watches the facility and enforces its rules.
His account of landing the role without a traditional audition underlines how a single strong video can still change an actor’s trajectory, while the part itself added another tough, morally dark character to a filmography already known for intense supporting work.
