Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has publicly declared the end of her marriage to singer Bobby Maris, bluntly stating she is exhausted by what she calls “the princess who married me” after giving eight years of her life to the union.
In a series of emotional Instagram stories, the mother of two questioned societal expectations placed on women in troubled marriages.
“For a person to be tired of a marriage is now a taboo because she’s a woman? Must it always be the man who gets tired? My tired is tired! I am tired of the Princess who married me. What is wrong with that?” she wrote.
Ogbodo further asked,
“To be happy as a woman in marriage is by connection in this country! I am no longer interested, is that a sin?”
She added that she might need to wait until she is “6 feet under before the crown of thorns can fit me well.”
The actress warned bloggers against spreading fake news, insisting she has all the receipts:
“All these bloggers, collect receipts ooo! Don’t post fake news. Ask for receipts. Because I come correct with receipts. I’m not like my predecessors o!”
The couple, who traditionally wed in Imo State in January 2023 and share two children, had already unfollowed each other on Instagram. Reports of tension surfaced earlier with leaked voice notes, cryptic posts about narcissists, and family members dragging Bobby as allegedly contributing little to the home.
