Nollywood actor Kunle Abounce Fawole has left fans stunned after openly admitting he no longer loves his ex-wife, actress Yvonne Jegede, yet would go to extreme lengths to protect her because she is the mother of his son.
In a candid interview on With Chude, the actor reflected on their failed marriage, choosing maturity over bitterness.
“I had a girlfriend once, but it didn’t work… I think we’re just on different planes. I’d rather just be the one to say, ‘Oh, everything was my fault,’ so to speak. I don’t like the enmity of things,” he explained.
Fawole made it clear he has no interest in harbouring grudges or avoiding his past.
“I don’t want to see somebody that I used to be with down the street and I turn my face away,” he said, adding that he would still greet her warmly if they crossed paths.
When directly asked if he still loves Jegede, his response was blunt:
“No.”
However, the actor emphasised that his deep respect and protective instincts remain unchanged because of their shared child.
“She’s the mother of my son. If I’m somewhere, and she’s in trouble, and somebody is doing something, I’ll try my best to kill the person.”
When the host sought clarification, Fawole confirmed it was purely about safeguarding the mother of his child:
“Yes… she’s the mother of my child.”
The emotional interview has sparked intense reactions online, with many praising Fawole for showing emotional maturity and co-parenting responsibility even after romance faded. Others questioned the intensity of his words, while some saw it as a sign of lingering feelings he refuses to acknowledge.
