How My Husband Made Me Stop Smoking— Toyin Abraham

Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has given fans a rare, heartfelt glimpse into her marriage and personal growth during a recent appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown. The actress showered praises on her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, while addressing past controversies and her approach to public scrutiny.

Toyin, who has built a successful career while navigating public attention, described her husband as a pillar of support who allows her to be herself. She shared details about her past habits and how he helped her make positive changes, especially during pregnancy.

“Kolawole Ajewole is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He let me be me. I used to smoke cigarettes — I still vape once in a while, but I’ve stopped taking cigarettes. When I got pregnant, my husband reminded me that I can no longer smoke because of my pregnancy. After I gave birth, I smoked during an outing, he saw me and didn’t say anything. He just said ’I’m not saying you shouldn’t smoke, I’m not saying you shouldn’t drink, but if I see it with my child, that’ll be the end of the marriage.’”

This candid revelation highlights the couple’s dynamic of love, boundaries, and mutual respect.

When asked about her well-publicised issues with colleague Funke Akindele, Toyin chose peace over rehashing the past.

“I don’t want to talk about it because I don’t like talking about my past.”

She further explained her current mindset toward fans, trolls, and comparisons.

“I don’t like when people pitch me against anyone. I just want to be me. I just want to be Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi… If I respond to you, I just feel like having fun with you. There’s nothing anybody’s going to say now that’s going to get to me anymore.”

Addressing the “too respectful” tag she earned herself, Toyin said:

“I don’t get angry anymore because I realized a lot of people weren’t brought up with love. Respecting someone doesn’t belittle me. It adds to me. That’s how I was brought up.”

Toyin’s words reflect maturity and a conscious decision to focus on her family and peace rather than industry drama. Her journey from past controversies to this place of calm has inspired many followers who see her as a relatable figure balancing fame, motherhood, and marriage.
