The family of late veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, is engulfed in fresh drama as his widow Stella Marris and his son trade serious accusations over the late actor’s properties and estate, with an alleged first wife also weighing in.
Stella Marris and her children recently cried out to Nigerians for help, revealing they now fetch water from a well because she cannot afford house rent. She claimed their electricity has been disconnected for two months and they rely on neighbours to charge their phones.

Mr Ibu’s son hit back hard, claiming his late father left several properties for all his children, but Stella allegedly took everything for herself and her own kids.

In an emotional response, Stella broke down in tears while denying the claims.
“I didn’t sell my late husband’s properties and keep the money to myself. The court shared the property among us. It was my late husband’s two sons and I who jointly agreed to sell the properties. The court ruled that one-third of his estate belongs to his legitimate wife.”
She added that she consulted with the late actor’s other children before selling the property in the village and that the proceeds were used for his funeral. Stella also claimed that throughout her marriage to Mr Ibu, he never disclosed any previous marriage or children from other women.
The alleged first wife of Mr Ibu has also broken her silence, dragging Stella Marris. She claimed Stella sold properties after the actor’s death and went on a spending spree with donated funds.
“After my husband’s burial, Stella and her group took all the money and went on a spending spree. Now you think karma won’t catch up with you?”
In a heartwarming twist, actor Williams Uchemba stepped in and cleared the outstanding school fees of Mr Ibu’s son Somtochukwu, enabling him to collect his WAEC result.
Mr Ibu was married five times, with four ending in separation or divorce. Stella Marris was his fifth and most public wife before his death in 2024.
The ongoing family feud has left many fans saddened, with calls for peaceful resolution as the late actor’s loved ones continue to struggle.
