Eyiyemi Afolayan Declares Poor Men Too Dangerous To Marry

Rising actress Eyiyemi Afolayan, daughter of veteran Nollywood star and director Kunle Afolayan, has stirred massive reactions after making bold and controversial statements about marriage, polygamy, and her views on poor men.

In a recent interview, the young actress opened up about the realities of fame, family, and her strict standards when it comes to choosing a life partner.

“I can never be a second or third wife to any man. It’s not that I’m a jealous person, it’s just that a house with multiple wives comes with a lot of problems.”

Eyiyemi explained her preference for a financially stable man, citing concerns about how sudden wealth affects loyalty.

“I was born into wealth so the man I end up with must have something doing. I can’t feed a man but I can support him. If I marry a poor man, he’ll be very dedicated to me. Not because he loves me, but because he doesn’t have the money to be promiscuous, but when he gets the money, he’ll start.”

She also addressed her father’s personal life and her parents’ separation, showing maturity and acceptance.

“I don’t mind my dad marrying someone else because at the end of the day, he’s an adult and he knows what he wants for himself. His children are also adults who’ll soon start building our own families.”

Eyiyemi admitted that fame has brought both perks and restrictions.

“Since I became a popular actress, the perks have included being greeted by fans…which feels good. The disadvantage includes being extra careful with the things I do on and offline. It has restricted my freedom even though I still do things the way I like.”

Her candid views have sparked debates online, with some praising her honesty and self-awareness while others criticised her generalisations about men.
