“Setup!” — Doris Ogala Slams Nigeria’s Judiciary Over Sowore’s Kuje Remand

Nollywood actress and politician Doris Ogala has fiercely condemned the judicial system after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the remand of activist Omoyele Sowore to Kuje Prison on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Justice Mohammed Umar ordered Sowore’s remand to the Kuje Custodial Centre following the revocation of his bail. The activist, who is facing cybercrime charges by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged social media posts calling President Bola Tinubu a “criminal,” will remain in custody until June 24, 2026.

Reacting angrily to the development, Doris Ogala, who is the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections, claimed the outcome was premeditated. In a video shared on her instagram page, she said:

“They already planned this, and they knew they were going to do this, but Sowore is not afraid to go to Kuje prison.”

In her caption, the actress expressed deep disappointment in the country’s justice system:

“Imagine remanding @yelesho to Kuje prison. Something they already planned to do. We are finished in this country. Our judicial system has failed us.”

She further stated in another clip:

“This is totally wrong. The judicial system has failed us in Nigeria. They already planned to take him to Kuje, we only came here to finish the drama.”

Sowore, while being led away, remained defiant. He told supporters he came prepared with his prison bag and would continue mobilising people even from custody.

“I’m going to prison to keep mobilising our people… All these are happening for a good reason. Somebody must make sacrifices that will benefit this country.”

Doris Ogala’s strong reaction has sparked fresh conversations online about the state of the judiciary, political persecution, and the boldness of public figures who continue to speak out amid high-profile cases.
