Stars Gather for Alexx Ekubo Service of Songs

Nollywood has been thrown into deep mourning as the final journey of beloved actor Alexx Ekubo officially begins, with colleagues and friends gathering for a solemn Service of Songs in Lagos to honour his memory.

The service, held at the Monarch Event Centre, featured touching tributes and violin performances. It was a night of emotional moments as the industry paid its last respects to the star who passed away after a private battle with metastatic kidney cancer.

Guests arrived dressed predominantly in white, creating a sea of solemn elegance as they entered the beautifully decorated hall adorned with Alexx’s photographs and white floral arrangements.

The atmosphere was filled with solemn violin performances welcoming guests. Many attendees struggled to contain their emotions as they came to terms with the painful loss of the talented actor.

Close friend IK Ogbonna was seen actively coordinating activities throughout the evening, while Yomi Casual and his wife were among those visibly emotional, with the actor’s wife needing comfort at different points. Ini Edo, Stan Nze and his wife, Segun Arinze, Omoni Oboli, AY Makun, Yvonne Jegede, Nancy Isime, Funke Akindele, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and Bryann were also spotted among the crowd, joining several other industry heavyweights who came to honour their colleague.

Alexx Ekubo’s passing has left a significant void in Nollywood. His colleagues and fans continue to struggle with the reality of his absence, especially after his illness was kept largely private until his death.

The Service of Songs marks the beginning of final rites for the actor, with more burial activities expected in the coming days. Tributes continue to pour in from across the entertainment industry and beyond, celebrating Alexx’s contributions to Nollywood and the light he brought to many lives on and off screen.
