Nollywood actress Beverly Osu has sparked fresh conversations about relationships after criticising the tendency to blame people (especially women) for choosing the wrong partner while ignoring those who deceive and manipulate them.
The actress took to her Instagram story to address what she sees as an unfair societal narrative. She highlighted the common practice of shaming the betrayed partner instead of holding the deceiver accountable.
“We love blaming people for choosing the wrong partner, but we never blame the person who faked their entire personality just to get them.”
She urged a shift in perspective:
“Stop shaming someone for trusting, and start holding the deceiver accountable for manipulating.”
Beverly’s message comes at a time when several high-profile celebrity relationships and divorces, including the ongoing Frank Edoho-Sandra saga, continue to dominate discussions. Many have interpreted her post as a timely commentary on accountability, red flags, and the emotional cost of trusting the wrong person.
