Former Big Brother Naija housemate and rising Nollywood actor Saga Adeolu has opened up about the hidden discomfort many actors face during intimate scenes, revealing that kissing on screen is far from enjoyable. The actor made the candid admission during an episode of the Nolly Icons podcast, where he addressed the constant criticism actors receive for onscreen kisses.
Saga Adeolu did not hold back as he described the reality behind romantic scenes.
“Kissing in films is not easy and they keep dragging us for it. Kissing another actor is weird. I have not really had any good onscreen kiss; having people invade your mouth with their saliva. It’s not something we enjoy.”
He further explained that actors often endure the act purely for the sake of the story.
“People think we’re enjoying it —we don’t. We do it for the story most times and if I had my way, I won’t kiss anyone in a film.”
The BBNaija alum revealed one particularly challenging day on set. “There was a day I kissed four girls,” he disclosed, highlighting the physical and emotional toll such scenes can take. Despite the discomfort, he appealed to fans for understanding and appreciation rather than judgment.
“I don’t blame anyone for judging us but we should be applauded instead. Clap for us when we kiss in a film.”
The 33-year-old, who transitioned from an offshore engineering background after studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Lagos, has built a name for himself in Nollywood. He is known for roles that often portray him as a charming, wealthy lover boy. He has appeared in projects including Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre and his own production, Falling Notes.
Saga also mentioned his professional approach to handling intimacy on set. Before filming kissing scenes, he sits down with his co-star to discuss and choreograph the moment carefully to make it as comfortable and quick as possible.
His recent revelations highlight the dedication required behind the camera. Many in the industry echo similar sentiments about the physical and emotional demands of intimate scenes, even as audiences continue to demand compelling love stories on screen.
