NMA Exposes Blessing CEO’s Doctored Cancer Report

The Nigerian Medical Association’s Delta State Branch has publicly rejected a histology report that Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, presented as proof of her breast cancer diagnosis. In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, the association confirmed the document circulating online was doctored from an original result issued to an entirely different patient more than a year ago.

The NMA made the clarification after the facility’s proprietor, consultant pathologist Dr O.A. Odigwe, reached out to the branch once the altered report went viral. The original histology report was issued on May 9, 2025, by Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba to a patient named Mbara Deborah. It followed a referral from a private hospital in the city for a confirmatory breast cancer test.

The statement signed by NMA Delta chairman Dr Israel Adaigho and secretary Usamah Hannah read:

“Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro. The test was done and the result issued to the referring doctor as a case of breast cancer on the 9th of May, 2025.”

The association stressed that the version now being paraded online had been altered, while the genuine document bearing Mbara Deborah’s name was separately released by law firm Allen Juris Law.

The NMA added that,

“A copy of that result is the one being circulated online by the law firm, with the name Mbara Deborah as the patient. The result online from the law firm is the original version issued to the patient through her hospital.”

The statement further noted that the clarification became necessary

“in view of what the altered report being paraded by Blessing Okoro is now being used for.”

The NMA urged authorities

“to do the needful and save the unsuspecting members of the public from being taken undue advantage of,”

while emphasising that

“the integrity of our association and its members is very paramount and should not therefore be taken for granted.”

The revelation marks the latest twist in a controversy that began on March 25 when Blessing CEO posted a tearful video announcing she had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. She shaved her head on camera and appealed for public support toward her treatment, raising at least N13 million in donations. Public doubt grew after Mbara Deborah claimed the report belonged to her and had been edited.

During a subsequent Instagram Live with media personality Daddy Freeze, Blessing CEO struggled to provide clear answers about her diagnosis.

In a later interview with influencer Egungun of Lagos, she walked back the stage four claim, describing it as possible miscommunication.

The development has triggered widespread calls for accountability, with members of the public demanding that authorities investigate. Businessman Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, known as Oil Money, has also already initiated legal steps to recover N20 million he said he donated.

As the story continues to unfold, the NMA’s intervention serves as a firm reminder of the importance of medical integrity, especially when public health claims intersect with fundraising appeals. Blessing CEO has yet to issue a response to the Delta NMA statement.
