Would-be relationship therapist Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has admitted that she exaggerated her breast cancer diagnosis and the urgency of her situation when she publicly solicited funds from Nigerians. The admission came during an Instagram live session with controversial media personality Daddy Freeze, just days after she had shared emotional videos claiming she was battling stage 4 breast cancer.
In the live session, Blessing CEO clarified key details about her medical situation.
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer at a Nigerian hospital. I don’t know the stage because the stage was not written on the report.”
She revealed that she discovered a lump in her breast in July last year and was informed in early January that the lump was cancerous. She is now preparing for a mastectomy to determine the extent of the condition.
Blessing CEO directly addressed the fundraising aspect of her earlier videos. She explained that she did not have a specific figure in mind for the cost of treatment and admitted she exaggerated the situation because she was uncertain about what to expect. She noted that she is not yet ready to share her hospital report publicly but promised to do so soon.
The confession follows intense backlash after her initial tearful videos in which she described being scared, tired of being strong, and “going gradually.” In those clips she said she was still in denial while packing her bags for hospital treatment.

Several prominent figures had accused her of staging the announcement for sympathy and financial gain. Actress Sarah Martins had earlier claimed Blessing CEO had no cancer and was using the story as a “manipulative stunt” to raise money for her partner IVD’s business. Nkechi Blessing also shaded her, referencing past controversies where Blessing CEO had claimed ownership of a building that did not belong to her.

Despite the scepticism, some showed support. Mama Jazz, sister of IVD’s late wife, donated ₦1 million towards Blessing CEO’s treatment through her foundation, stating it was her commitment to helping women fight cancer.
Blessing CEO’s latest admission has kept the story trending, with many online users questioning the timing and details of her disclosures. The saga has once again highlighted ongoing debates about authenticity, clout-chasing and the ethics of health-related appeals among public figures in Nigeria.
