Galatasaray Confirms Osimhen’s Quick Return Timeline After Arm Surgery

Galatasaray has officially confirmed that Victor Osimhen came through surgery on his fractured right forearm without complications. The Turkish club made the announcement on Monday after the 27-year-old Super Eagles striker went under the knife at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul.

The operation was carried out by the club’s own doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce. In a statement posted on X, Galatasaray said the procedure addressed the injury Osimhen picked up during their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Liverpool. The club added warm wishes for a full and speedy return to the pitch.

“We extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to our footballer and hope for his return to the field at the earliest.”

Osimhen sustained the fracture in just the 10th minute of the away match at Anfield where he collided with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate while contesting an aerial ball.

He briefly returned home to Nigeria before heading back to Istanbul for the surgery.

The timing could not have been more frustrating for Osimhen and his club. He has enjoyed a strong season so far, racking up 19 goals and seven assists across all competitions. His absence leaves a big hole in Galatasaray’s attack as they push for domestic and European honours.

Osimhen noted, in a stream with Carte Efe, that the recovery would take a maximum of five to six weeks (four weeks of healing and two weeks of individual training) before he rejoins the full squad.

“It will take a maximum of five to six weeks. Six weeks at most, and I will be back to football. Most of the time, it’s four weeks, then two weeks for you to train alone, gradually regain your fitness, and then you join the team.”

Galatasaray has not set a firm return date, but Turkish media reports suggest the striker could be available as early as April 26 if his rehabilitation goes smoothly. Everything will depend on how his body responds in the coming days.

This latest update brings relief to supporters of both Galatasaray and the Nigerian national team. Osimhen remains one of Africa’s most explosive forwards, and his return is eagerly awaited as the business end of the season approaches.

The club and medical team will now focus on a careful, step-by-step recovery plan to ensure he comes back stronger and fully fit. Fans will be watching closely for every positive sign as the countdown to his comeback begins.
