Peller Addresses Benin Backlash After Queen Faced Removal Risk

School Is Affecting My Income – Peller Hints At Dropping Out

TikTok sensation Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, has responded to the intense backlash over his March 6 visit to the Benin Kingdom by releasing evidence that the trip was formally requested and approved through official channels. This development comes as a direct follow-up to the Benin Traditional Council’s earlier condemnation, which described the visit as unauthorised and threatened disciplinary action, including possible removal of a palace queen involved in facilitating access.

Peller’s management team issued a clear statement addressing the controversy head-on. They confirmed that a formal request for a courtesy visit was submitted on February 23, 2026, with the initial date set for March 3 before being rescheduled to March 6. The team attached a copy of the submitted letter as proof and noted that, although the Oba of Benin was unavailable, Peller and his entourage were warmly received and guided through the palace by chiefs, including Uyiekpen Ogiefa.

The statement expressed deep respect for Benin traditions while acknowledging the public concerns:

“We would like to sincerely address the concerns surrounding Peller’s recent visit to the Benin Kingdom. First and foremost, we acknowledge the deep cultural significance of the Benin Kingdom and extend our utmost respect to its traditions, heritage and people.”

They further clarified that any awkward moments captured on video were unintentional:

“We understand that certain moments during the visit may have been perceived as inappropriate. We sincerely wish to clarify that this was never the intention. Any mispronunciations or actions were unintentional and purely human, possibly influenced by excitement and the warmth of the reception.”

Peller’s team emphasised his genuine passion for Nigerian culture and reiterated an apology for any misunderstandings:

“Peller is deeply passionate about promoting Nigerian culture, and it would never be his intention to disrespect the very heritage he is committed to showcasing to the world. At no point was it the mission or intention to offend or disrespect the culture in any way.”

This response follows the Benin Traditional Council’s strong statement that labelled the visit a “serious breach of protocol,” leading to the detention of a staff member, indefinite suspension of a chief, and potential removal of the queen who assisted. The council had demanded an immediate written apology from Peller or threatened legal action.

The new evidence of a pre-submitted formal letter shifts the narrative from outright unauthorised entry to a possible communication gap or procedural misunderstanding.

The focus now turns to whether the Benin Traditional Council will accept the explanation and apology or proceed with further disciplinary measures against the palace officials involved.
