Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has stirred fresh conversations in entertainment circles with a candid declaration about fatherhood that puts love and responsibility above biological ties. In a video posted on BBC News Yoruba YouTube channel, the popular star made it clear he would continue raising a child he has already bonded with, regardless of what a DNA test might reveal.

“If DNA says a child is not mine and I’ve already started raising the child as mine, I, Rotimi Salami, will accept the child. Even if it’s painful, it’s between me and my wife,”

Salami’s position aligns with views he has expressed in the past. Back in 2021, he told men that DNA testing is unnecessary unless another person is actively claiming the child, stressing that

“a father is someone who raised a child, not the person who gave the sperm.”

More recently, he has spoken about cases where DNA mismatches were not due to infidelity but hospital errors or other circumstances, urging Nigerians to approach the topic with nuance instead of automatic suspicion.

Known for his roles in family-oriented films and his real-life image as a devoted husband and father, Rotimi Salami has built a reputation for thoughtful takes on relationships and parenting. The statement appears to come from a place of reflection rather than any specific personal crisis, framing the decision as one made privately between partners.
