The palace of the Ooni of Ife has officially dismissed circulating WhatsApp messages allegedly linking the monarch to Nigerian influencer King Mitchy, describing the exchange as false and fabricated.
The clarification followed viral social media claims suggesting the revered monarch privately communicated with the influencer amid her public controversy involving activist VeryDarkMan and reported ties to Seyi Tinubu.
However, in a firm public response, Oba Omotooyosi Bayo, the King of Olukosi, stated that he personally confirmed the truth after speaking directly with the Ooni.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) page, the monarch wrote:
“After speaking with His Imperial Majesty, I can confirm that the WhatsApp message circulating on social media from one Mitchy is fake and fabricated. I urge everyone to stop engaging these clout chasers on this matter further. Thanks. -TA”
The statement quickly gained attention online, with many interpreting it as the palace’s definitive rejection of the alleged conversation.
The drama began when screenshots of an alleged WhatsApp chat surfaced online, reportedly showing the Ooni praising Mitchy’s charity activities and addressing issues surrounding her suspended Instagram page.
The messages sparked heated debate, with critics accusing the influencer of disrespect toward royal authority, while others questioned the authenticity of the exchange.
Despite the denial, social media conversations remain intense, with users divided over the authenticity of the viral screenshots and the broader tensions surrounding Mitchy’s public profile.
