Media personality Daddy Freeze has shared his thoughts on the ongoing custody battle between Afrobeats star Davido and his first babymama Sophia Momodu, raising concerns about legal tactics in Nigerian courtrooms.
In a video shared on Instagram, Freeze revealed that someone close to the lawyer involved in the case had contacted him, complaining about the intense backlash she has faced online after Davido publicly called her out.
While stressing that he does not support intimidation, bullying, or harassment of any kind, Freeze said the controversy reflects a deeper issue in the country’s legal system.
He argued that some lawyers go too far in court in their bid to win cases, often using harsh language and personal attacks, something he says he has personally experienced.
“Here’s my take on Davido vs lawyer in the ongoing Imade custody battle.”
Freeze also questioned why sensitive issues, including references to Davido’s late son, were allegedly raised during arguments, describing such moves as unnecessary low blows.
He added that winning in court does not always translate to public approval.
“Even if you win in court, there is still the court of public opinion.”
The custody case involving Davido and Sophia has continued to draw widespread attention.
Earlier reports claimed the singer lost his temper during court proceedings in Yaba, an allegation made publicly by Maruf Muhammed. Davido later clarified he was seeking joint custody, not full custody, and eventually announced he would drop the case, saying his daughter would grow up knowing he fought for her.
Public reactions have been mixed. Entrepreneur Doris Nkumah (Wanneka) praised him for standing up for his child, while logistics manager Israel DMW and businessman Isaac Fayose also shared strong opinions online.
In 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody of their daughter, claiming he was denied access and pressured financially, allegations Sophia denied. She later opposed the request, citing personal concerns, including family issues.
As debate continues across social media and beyond, Daddy Freeze says the situation is a reminder that courtroom victories and public perception do not always align.
