Nigerian hair entrepreneur Doris Nkumah, popularly known as Wanneka or Wannebaybee, has weighed in on the custody situation involving music star Davido and his daughter, Imade Adeleke.
Her reaction comes shortly after the singer announced he had dropped his joint custody case, a decision that has stirred emotional responses across social media.
Reacting publicly, Wanneka praised the singer for fighting for access to his child, saying many fathers don’t even show basic concern for their children’s wellbeing.
She stressed that Imade would grow up knowing her father stood up for her.
“At least a man is out here, even fighting for his daughter,” she wrote. “Some men don’t even care if they’re schooling, eating, or breathing. The daughter will grow up knowing ‘Daddy fought for me’.”
Beyond praise, the entrepreneur revealed the painful reality many parents face privately, struggling just to maintain communication with their children.
Her words struck a deeply emotional tone.
“Some of us have to beg and fight for a call to even be made. Talk more in court. We don’t even need no lawyer.”
She added that for many people, simply being treated with basic dignity in co-parenting situations feels out of reach.
“What some of us are even wishing for is to feel like a human being.”
The reaction follows recent legal tension between Davido and Sophia Momodu, who share Imade together.
The singer had filed for joint custody in 2024, claiming restricted access to his daughter and financial pressure, allegations Sophia denied.
Reports also surfaced that courtroom proceedings in Yaba became heated, with lawyer Maruf Muhammed alleging the singer lost his cool during cross-examination.
Davido later clarified he never sought full custody and only wanted joint parenting rights. He also announced he would withdraw the case, assuring his daughter she would know he fought for her.
