Nollywood actress Kemisola Ariyo Apesin, popularly known as Kemity, has opened up about her rise to fame, firmly rejecting long-standing claims that success in the movie industry comes through compromise.
In a heartfelt message shared with fans, the actress made a bold declaration about her journey, insisting she built her career through hard work, discipline, and faith, not shortcuts.
“I have never used my body to collect a movie role. I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity.”
Kemity shared throwback photos from movie sets while reflecting on how her career evolved gradually, from acting, to makeup artistry, and back to acting again. According to her, every step was intentional and earned.
Before gaining recognition, she revealed she already had businesses running.
“Before I even met my boss, I already had two wine shops where I was selling wine. I worked as a receptionist at the Masters Hotel in Ayobo.”
She explained that financial realities in film production pushed her to expand her skills. Actors, she said, often paid for their own feeding and accommodation during shoots — which motivated her to join the crew as a makeup artist before returning fully to acting.
“From acting to makeup, and back to acting, my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me. I have always worked for my money.”
The actress also spoke passionately about motherhood, saying her values and responsibilities shaped her choices.
“I am a mother. I have two daughters I am raising with dignity and strong values. I cannot build their future on something dirty.”
Kemity credited her upbringing, discipline, and faith for her success, declaring that no one can ever accuse her of trading her body for opportunities.
She ended her message with strong advice to aspiring actresses:
“Upcoming actresses, please do not let anyone mislead you. You can succeed with talent, discipline, consistency, and hard work… No shortcuts. Just sweat.”

The actress previously celebrated major personal milestones this year, including purchasing two cars; one for herself and one for her students, which she described as evidence of answered prayers and steady progress.
