Controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo has stirred fresh debate over the death of late singer Ifunanya Nwangene, suggesting that the artiste may have had an unusual connection with snakes.
Speaking in a video shared online, Olunloyo questioned how two cobras allegedly ended up inside Ifunanya’s apartment, describing the incident as “strange” and unresolved.
“How did two large cobras end up in the apartment of a singer?” she asked.
Olunloyo further claimed that reports of another snake allegedly found in the engine of the ambulance conveying the singer’s body raised more unanswered questions.
She explained that while snake bites are not classified as crimes under Nigerian law, the circumstances surrounding the incident deserve deeper attention.
“When a snake bites somebody, it’s not a crime, so the police is not going to come out. But in Nigeria, some of these things could have spiritual and investigative angles,” she said.
Drawing from cultural and spiritual references, Olunloyo speculated that the late singer may have kept snakes as pets, stressing that her comments were illustrative and speculative, not conclusive.
“Did she have some kind of association with snakes? Did she keep them as pets? Nobody knows,” she stated.
Olunloyo maintained that the circumstances of Ifunanya’s death remain unusual, while offering prayers for her soul to rest in peace.
