Veteran Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has spoken candidly about his struggles with fatherhood, admitting that he has not been fully present for his children in recent times.
The award-winning singer made the revelation during a recent episode of the Mic On podcast, hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloye, where he reflected on his personal life, purpose, and responsibility to society.
In an honest moment, 2Baba acknowledged his shortcomings as a father and expressed a strong desire to do better.
“I have not been the best daddy. I want to do more. However, privacy is very important,” the singer said.
The music legend, who is a father of eight children from four different women, stressed the importance of being a present father figure, noting that active parenting plays a major role in shaping children’s lives.
Beyond family, 2Baba also spoke about his broader mission and the legacy he hopes to leave behind.
“I want to really contribute to society positively. I want to be among those who make something meaningful happen. I want to contribute my own little quota to help society,” he added.
Despite opening up on the sensitive subject, the singer emphasized his desire to keep his personal life away from excessive public scrutiny, drawing a clear line between public responsibility and private family matters.
2Baba shares two children with Sumbo Ajaba-Adeoye, three with Pero Adeniyi, two with his ex-wife Annie Macaulay, and one child with his current wife, Natasha Osawaru.
His comments have since sparked conversations online, with many praising the singer for his honesty and self-reflection, while others highlighted the importance of accountability and growth in parenthood.
