Iyabo Ojo Reacts To Movie Dance Marketing Debate

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has added her voice to the ongoing debate over dancing as a tool for promoting movies, urging her colleagues to focus on what works best for them and ignore external pressure.

Taking to her Instagram page, the outspoken actress questioned the idea of fixed rules in movie promotion, stressing that no one is obligated to follow a particular method to succeed.

“Who made the rules? Nobody you gotta answer to,” she wrote.

Iyabo encouraged actors to embrace individuality and stop policing how others choose to market their projects, noting that success does not come from imitation but conviction.

“Do what works for YOU. Let others win their way. You win yours. Period,” she added.

She also took a subtle swipe at critics and naysayers, stating that “2026 ain’t for talkers, it’s for doers,” a line that has since resonated with many fans online.

Her comment comes amid a heated industry conversation sparked by filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who recently criticized actors who dance on social media to promote their movies, insisting he would rather earn meaningful returns than chase box office figures.

Reacting to his remarks, Funke Akindele fired back, warning against jealousy and insisting that the industry is big enough for everyone to thrive.

Adding another layer to the debate, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde also stated she would not dance to promote her films, describing such a strategy as unprofessional.

Iyabo Ojo’s stance has been praised by fans as a balanced take, with many agreeing that there is no single formula for success in Nollywood.
