Grief has once again fallen over the Yoruba Nollywood industry as popular actress Aunty Ajara has passed away after battling illness.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her colleague, Tobi Oladdele Teemony, who shared the announcement on Instagram, revealing that the actress died overnight.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,” he wrote.
Her death comes just days after actress Wumi Toriola publicly appealed for financial help for Ajara, explaining that her health condition had worsened despite ongoing efforts to save her life.
In his statement, Teemony expressed gratitude to those who supported the late actress during her difficult time.
“During this difficult period, Ajara received immense love, prayers, and financial support from kind-hearted people across the world. We are deeply grateful to everyone who stood by her with prayers, contributions, encouragement, and compassion.”
He also urged the public to stop sending money to the account previously shared for her treatment.
“At this moment, we kindly urge family, friends, and the general public to please stop sending money to the previously shared account, as it is no longer required.”
He ended the message with prayers for her family and loved ones, writing,
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and everyone grieving this painful loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”

Aunty Ajara was widely known in the Yoruba movie industry and had spoken in past interviews about some of the painful experiences she faced in life, which made many fans admire her strength.
