Nollywood actress and producer Bimbo Ademoye has raised alarm over the alleged piracy and demonetisation of her newly released film, Where Love Lives, which premiered on her YouTube platform, Bimbo Ademoye TV.
The actress, in an emotional video shared online, accused a man identified as Emmanuel Davies, also known as Lagos Sounds, of uploading a song from her movie to digital platforms and falsely claiming ownership, a move she says led to her film being demonetised.
Ademoye appeared visibly distressed as she described the toll the situation has taken on her wellbeing.
“I’m stressed, mentally, physically and financially. I’m drained,” she said.
According to the actress, an exclusive soundtrack from the film titled “Tell A Friend”, originally created for the project, was allegedly uploaded to Spotify and YouTube without her permission.
She insisted that she holds full rights to the movie as its producer and warned that the monetisation issue must be reversed immediately.
Bimbo further alleged that the same individual uploaded a song made specifically for her by singer Ugoccie, despite the track not being officially released to avoid piracy issues.
“Ugoccie made a song for me, she didn’t upload it because of problems like this. You took it and uploaded it on Spotify and all platforms and claimed it to be yours. Then you demonetize my movie, my hard work,” she said.
The actress gave a one-hour ultimatum for the claim to be lifted, stressing that her project represents years of effort and financial investment.
With Love Lives has reportedly gathered significant views since its release, making the demonetisation a major financial setback. Ademoye described the alleged action as unfair and damaging to independent filmmakers who rely on digital revenue.
As of the time of report, there has been no public response from the accused party.
