Nigerian investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo has responded strongly to comments made by Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido, following his recent press conference on the ongoing DNA controversy involving Anu Adeleke.
Entertainment Reporter earlier reported that Mr Adeleke addressed the long-running paternity saga, insisting that Anu is not his granddaughter and revealing that multiple DNA tests had allegedly been conducted in the past, all of which returned negative results.
During the briefing, the billionaire businessman accused Kemi Olunloyo of impersonating a minor online to attack his son. He also questioned the legality of such actions and accused the journalist of persistently targeting Davido over the years.
“This Kemi Olunloyo has been after my son David for many years. Everything she says about David is always negative. We are going to consider suing her,” Adeleke said.
He added that the family is considering legal action over what he described as sustained defamation.
Reacting in a video she titled “My reply to Dr Deji Adeleke Part 1”, Olunloyo dismissed the allegations and maintained that she had nothing to hide.
According to her, she personally opened Anu’s Instagram account and later handed over the password to the girl before leaving Nigeria.
Olunloyo claimed she conducted an independent investigation into the matter and alleged that Davido used his cousin B-Red’s phone to communicate with Anu’s mother before they allegedly slept together. These claims remain unverified.
The journalist further stated that her actions were driven by concern for the child’s welfare. She said she opened a financial account for Anu and has been saving money for her future, adding that the preteen would gain full access to the funds when she turns 18 years old.
Last week, Anu made an emotional Instagram post requesting a DNA test to confirm her identity. She spoke about being bullied in school and suffering mental distress after classmates mocked her claim of being Davido’s daughter.
In response, Davido denied being her father, stating that he had already done five DNA tests, all of which were negative. The singer expressed frustration and threatened legal action against Anu’s mother, saying she needed to be held accountable.
Hitting back, Anu accused the singer of bullying and threatening her mother, saying he publicly insulted her mum while claiming he had conducted multiple DNA tests.
Anu’s mother later shared alleged screenshots of chats between her daughter and the singer. She claimed Davido ignored them for years and requested that the US State Department help supervise an independent and transparent DNA test through the US mission in Lagos or Abuja.
As reactions continue to trail the saga, the controversy remains unresolved, with all parties holding firmly to their positions.
