Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer Afeez Adeshina, widely known as Destiny Boy, has died at the age of 22.
The tragic news was confirmed on Sunday, January 18, 2025, after a disturbing video showing the singer’s lifeless body surfaced on social media, sparking shock and grief across the entertainment space.
According to reports, Destiny Boy’s body is currently being transported to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he will be laid to rest.
Since the news broke, several celebrities, fans, and influencers have taken to social media to mourn the young star. A heartbreaking video believed to be of the singer’s sister has also been circulating online, showing her in tears as she repeatedly called his name.
Destiny Boy rose to national fame in 2019 after his Fuji-style cover of Davido’s hit song “If” went viral, earning him widespread recognition and praise for his unique sound.
In November 2024, the late singer joyfully announced the birth of his first child on Instagram, making his sudden death even more painful for fans and loved ones.
Singer Ruger expressed frustration and sorrow over the unclear circumstances surrounding Destiny Boy’s death. He wrote:
“Bruh people will just post that someone has died and everyone will move on. Wtf caused his death, who was he with, what was the boy eating or drinking. No autopsy, NOTHING!!!! We just have to accept that he’s dead. My God RIP destiny boy 💔”
