Nollywood actress Yewande Adekoya has shared a deeply personal story about a miscarriage she experienced in 2013, describing the painful moment as a turning point in her life, faith, and understanding of God.
The 42-year-old actress made the revelation in an emotional video posted on her Instagram page, where she recalled how her first pregnancy ended unexpectedly after she began bleeding.
According to Yewande, she knew immediately that something was wrong.
“A few years ago, I remember it was 2013. I was pregnant at the time. After some months, I started to bleed, so I was rushed to the hospital. I knew I was miscarrying, like I was about losing the baby,” she said.
The actress revealed that doctors later confirmed that the pregnancy had been lost and informed her that she would need to undergo an evacuation procedure the following day.
“They told me the baby had died and we needed to do an evacuation. I was so sad that I’d lost my baby. I cried all through the night,” she added.
She explained that she was given medication and eventually fell asleep, overwhelmed by grief and fear over what lay ahead.
While asleep, Yewande said she experienced a vivid dream that she believes altered the course of events.
“In my dream, a man came to me. He was wearing white. He was dressed like a doctor. And then he came to me and said, ‘It is time,’” she recalled.
According to her, when she woke up later, the miscarriage had occurred naturally, making the planned medical procedure unnecessary.
Hospital staff later confirmed that the evacuation would no longer be needed.
Reflecting on the experience, Yewande said the painful episode strengthened her faith and reshaped how she views life and loss.
“Can you confidently say there is no God?” she asked. “His ways might not be our way. Sometimes we don’t understand how he moves, but it’s our business to trust that he knows best.”
Yewande Adekoya has been active in the Nigerian film industry for over two decades and is well known for producing and starring in several Yoruba films.
In the past, the actress has spoken openly about other personal challenges, including her divorce, often encouraging honesty and healing through sharing real-life experiences.
Her latest revelation has sparked conversations online, with many fans praising her courage for speaking about miscarriage, a topic often kept silent, and for using her story to inspire faith, strength, and hope.
