Adekunle Gold Becomes First Artist to Sell Out Wole Soyinka Centre Concert

Singer Adekunle Gold has etched his name into Nigeria’s live music history after becoming the first artiste to sell out a concert at the newly renovated Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts in Lagos.

The historic feat was achieved on December 26, 2025, when the singer filled the 3,560-capacity venue, formerly known as the National Theatre for his orchestral-themed concert titled Fuji.

Taking to his Instagram page to celebrate the milestone, Adekunle Gold, fondly known as AG Baby, shared photos and videos from the event alongside the plaque presentation and wrote:

“Thank you all for a great end to 2025. North America is up next.”

The concert marked one of the biggest live music events hosted at the centre since its reopening in October 2025. To commemorate the achievement, organisers presented two plaques; one to Something Different Management, Events and Record Label, and another to Adekunle Gold for being the first artiste to headline and sell out the iconic venue.

The plaque presented to his label read:

“Sometin Different Management, Events and Record Label. Record label for Adekunle Gold sold out National Theatre event in Lagos, Nigeria.”

The Fuji concert stood out for its unique blend of orchestral arrangements and Afrobeats, with Adekunle Gold performing alongside a full live orchestra. Guests were asked to dress in black tie, adding an elegant touch to the night, which drew several top names from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Rapper Olamide introduced Adekunle Gold on stage, telling the audience:

“Please join me in welcoming the big fish, AG Baby, Adekunle Gold, also known as Mr Kosoko. Sit back, relax and enjoy good music.”

Fuji music icon Adewale Ayuba and gospel singer Yinka Ayefele also made guest appearances, further enriching the night with a diverse mix of sounds and styles.

The Wole Soyinka Centre was renamed in honour of Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka following the extensive renovation of the National Theatre, and Adekunle Gold’s sold-out concert now stands as a landmark moment in the venue’s new era.
